Lemon Laundry Room Makeover

I found this post in my drafts from last summer and had to share! It’s a cute little mini makeover to our basement laundry room in our previous home.

It’s a pretty small room and there are no windows in here either. It’s right off the stairs when you walk down and honestly, laundry is already my least favourite chore, so having a bland little room to do laundry in just doesn’t get it done lol. Honestly though, it’s a cute room but it was very bland. I wanted to make it a little fun and cheery and I think I did!

Here’s the before:

Very white and plain right? Totally fine just.. plain.

(Also I have to note that the cabinet is actually put on straight, the walls are slightly ever so crooked lol. It’s not nearly as noticeable in person as it in in this photo though. It’s so hard to photograph in here because of the size, so everything gets distorted when I attempt a full shot.)

There’s also a lot of doors in this tiny room!

We have our utility room door beside the washer/dryer, plus the door to under the stairs… also a really cute *smol* cat door in the utility room for Mary Poppins. So including the doorway in, we have 3 doors on 4 walls plus a cat door lol. A lot of doors!

It’s also super hard to photograph because of the size and shape so, enjoy this distorted pulled back shot:)

It was fine beforehand, but didn’t have a lot of personality. I found these cute lemon decals (that were super easy to put up), then I shopped the house for some decor, styled the shelf, and put up a few prints! I did this little refresh in about an hour!

Here’s the after!

So much better right! It’s a little more fun and I love how cute the lemon decals are, fruit decor isn’t normally my thing, but for a small laundry room I think you can do something a little whimsical like this.

I had this mirror in storage, plus a few old prints that I rearranged in here. The canisters were a thrifted find (they hold OxiClean and scent boosters) and in the cabinet I have extra cleaning supplies and laundry odds and ends.

Honestly everything else I had around the house. I just shopped my home and swapped out a few items like the rug for this minimal one. I think a simple white rug works best in here with the lighting and size. It feels a bit calmer and more cohesive.

I think Mary Poppins little door is my favourite though. I’m amazed she fits through it  (we had to test it out before installing it). She a big girl hah.

One more quick before and after!

I’ll link what I can below in case you’re wanting info on anything but if you have any Q’s just leave them in the comments! Thanks for reading!

xx Megan

PS One of my favourite places to shop for decals and wallpaper is PhotoWall. I’ve also found beautiful wallpaper at Urban Walls, Opposite Wall, Anewall Decor, and Rocky Mountain Decals. So many great options!
