5 Ways To Brighten Your Home For Spring

Today I’m partnering with Angie’s BOOMCHICKAPOP to chat about ‘Poptimism’ and how adding pops of colour can have a profound positive impact on your happiness. I’m sharing FIVE affordable design tips for bringing pops of colour into your home with the new season and how it can instill happiness and joy! If you’re a regular blog reader or follow me on Instagram, then you definitely know how much I love my neutral, calming spaces lol! I tend to veer towards textured whites, shades of brown and cozy patterns to decorate my home. Even I love to switch things up & brighten my home up in the spring though!

Tip No. 1 :: Yes, all my social handles are The ‘Blush’ Home,

so it’s no surprise I love a pop of blush pink lol! This colour just makes me feel happy and I love how fresh and spring-like it is too! (My front door has been painted blush pink for years now lol). I also love to swing by the flower shop every so often and pick up a pretty bouquet of tulips to brighten up my day (one of my favourite flowers). I just did this the other day actually! I love this gorgeous blush pink shade. A great tip for buying affordable flowers is to get them at a Wholesale store. They have amazing prices on big bouquets of flowers, tulips, hydrangeas, etc. and they always last a long time too.

Pro tip for making your flowers last an insanely long time:

The first thing I do is trim the bottoms on an angle. Then I’ll remove all of the leaves. This makes them look much neater and professional but also, any sort of greenery that dips into the water will produce bacteria. Once the greenery is all removed, pop them into a vase with some fresh, cool water. Make sure to change it every few days and trim a touch off the ends of the flowers when you do. They will last up to 3 weeks+!

Tip No. 2 :: All about making some cozy changes!

My next tip for bringing in a little colour into your home & boosting your mood is to switch out your pillow covers! This is such an easy change to make and one of my faves! I grabbed some new blush pink pillows; two super soft, large throw pillows for our chairs, and a pretty textured lumbar for the couch. It adds such a pop to our living room and looks so fun and happy in there now! I shopped my home and found this cozy chunky pink blanket as well which I draped over the couch.

Tip No. 3 :: Spring and organization go hand in hand IMO…

When I’m refreshing a space, like our living room for instance, I like to go in and do a little deep clean too. I’ll vacuum in between the cushions, dust the shelves and when I’m switching out pillow covers, I’ll wash the covers that I removed before storing them away. Make sure to open up a window and get a fresh breeze in your home, there is literally nothing more refreshing and soothing than a warm, spring breeze!

Tip No. 4 :: Here’s another fun way to add a pop of colour into your home!

Recently I switched out our kitchen runner for something a little more colourful and it makes me smile every time I walk over it. Our previous runner was a minimal, beige toned rug so this is such a fun change! It’s a beautiful pattern and the pink ties into the changes I made in our living room too. Totally brightens up our little kitchen area and makes me so happy.

Lastly, tip No. 5 :: Make sure your home is stocked with delicious snacks.

I like to keep Angie’s Boomchickapop on hand, it’s a favourite for the kids and I (especially for post school snack time). I like to  take some of the Sea Salt popcorn, mix it with some graham crackers, raisins, pretzels and dried apple rings and let the kids have a fun snack mix when they get home.

I love the Sea Salt popcorn too but these Cheddar Puffs are perfect for late night snacking! I literally inhaled a bag last night.

I hope my easy tips for bringing in some pops of colour and joy into your home inspire you to give your home a mini refresh for spring! Small changes like this elevate my mood. With the new season, it’s nice to bring some of those changes indoors! I love pink so I included some fun pops of pink throughout, but mixing colours like a pretty yellow and rich emerald green would be gorgeous! Maybe treat yourself to a new plant too instead of flowers – or both lol! Shop your home for a few decor pieces to switch around and make your home a space you love and feel happy in!
