I’m not completely finished with my son’s room tbh, but honestly, the way I roll as a mom of two young kiddos, projects take a looong time to get completed around here LOL. Plus, I don’t like the feeling of only finishing something when it’s ‘perfect’ because perfection is not real life, let’s be honest here. So I can’t wait to share this before and after so you can see how a few small changes made a huge impact in my son’s room! I’m in love with it and it’s such a happy space now, it makes me smile every time I walk in 🙂 The biggest addition was this gorgeous wallpaper from Rocky Mountain Wall Decals (three cheers for a Canadian company!). This was my first time ever using wallpaper of any kind! It packs a punch and made all the difference in this space!
Here is the design board I made for my son’s room.
I kept it fairly neutral with a pop of colour…
I don’t think I’ve ever used yellow before!.. Or splashy prints (I’m pretty vanilla in my decor choices lol) but my goal is to branch out a little and especially in my kid’s rooms, I want them to be fun! I kept it neutral in a way, but with a few key pieces it really took M’s (my son’s) room to the next level.
When I do projects, Kiel’s usually away working so it’s just the kiddos and I. When I was putting up the wallpaper, this was no exception, they were running around my feet and it was just about dinner time so things were squirrelly during the application. Totally my own fault! I’m not sure why I do that to myself haha, but it got put up and the actual process was quite easy. This wallpaper is removable and reusable as well, it was basically a giant sticker for the wall that came in several numbered sheets. Also, Rocky Mountain Wall Decals included a wallpaper smoother with the package too, which I thought was awesome. You use this to smooth out the wallpaper as you work your way down the wall, getting rid of any air bubbles. (You could also use a credit card for this if you don’t have one of these gadgets.)
Check out this before and after though!!
Isn’t it so lovely! I can’t get enough of this wallpaper, it completely changed the feel of my son’s room. It feels so happy and bright now!
I was originally going to hang the little panda by M’s bed, but thought the felt ball garland I had gave it a little more colour and was kind of perfect strung up. The giant M poster is from The Birth Poster (and is one of their latest prints – it’s amazing and comes with the frame as well). I will link everything at the bottom of the post for you!
I can’t get over how much this fun wallpaper transformed the space. Then I was able to add in a pop of colour with the dresser (I’m still on the hunt for some new knobs) and I also have plans to add some pom pom trim to the curtains as well. It’s so fun and bright in here and my son adores his room makeover (he told me he loves it so much! ♥).
