Moody Fall Decorating With Dark Accents

Do you like to bring in dark and cozy pieces for the cooler months? It’s a great way to keep it simple while decorating your home for the seasons. It lends to more of a mood and how the house feels instead of adding in more stuff, which I love. Plus decorating with black decor grounds the space and adds depth. If you ever feel like something is missing in a space, check to see if you have any black or dark decor accents as well as plants. Both are a must for any room 🙂

For the longest time I only used lighter colors (I mean, I still do a lot lol) but I’ve added in a lot more dark, moody tones to our home, especially with fall here. Joss & Main has a beautiful new collection for their Winter Edit, just look at the moody fabulous-ness here! It’s a mix of livable and luxe designed to inspire your holiday season.

I also LOVE this stunning pink side table – I mean, can you even?? Everything ships so fast too, like in the next day or so I mean. I love that.

Mixing and matching in your home

I ordered this nightstand and a few other pieces from their collection, the nightstand I used as this side table in our downstairs living room. This table has a pretty marble top as well. Don’t think just because something is labeled as a specific item it can’t be used in other ways too! Side tables and nightstands can definitely be inter-changeable.

These tall vases on my tv console are from Joss & Main and they’re the perfect vessel for my greenery. I also tucked in some plants and then stacked books in the middle to tie it all together. I haven’t figured out exactly how I want it to look but I’m happy with it so far.

This console table was a diy too, I’m so happy with how it turned out and I’ll share that tutorial next week with you. It’s extra long (we have a 70″ tv in here, my husband’s contribution lol). I couldn’t find a console long enough so I made one and it’s exactly what I was looking for! I’ve kept the decor simple on it, adding in some height on the sides with dried grasses.

The cutest bench right? I have it beside our rattan chair here to use as a side table – again mixing and matching different uses for furniture. It comes in a natural wood as well that is equally GORG. (PS I bought this fluffy plant from a home hardware store for $9 and I just love it, the prettiest leaves).

I love to mix high and low decor in my home

The black planter is a thrift store flip, it was bright red and I gave it a few coats of black spray paint and then rubbed a little mud over it (wiped off when dry) to give it an aged look.

There’s something about adding a mirror to a space, Idk my grandma was a big mirror person and I guess I fall under that umbrella as well lol. They reflect light and bring a fun element. I found this gorgeous brass edged mirror and thought this little corner was a cute spot for it. I might hang some plants from the ceiling in that corner as well, what do you think?

Tip for hanging up heavy art or mirrors. I love these drywall hangers, we used them for my husband’s framed hockey jerseys as well. They have weight specifications so check the box. (You can make this modern vase yourself too – check my easy diy here.)

I love how this room is super cozy and all the touches of moody decor mixed in with my neutrals gives it a fall feel without having me add fall decor everywhere.

Do you love dark, rich tones like this? I don’t have anything like this in my home but whenever I create these mood boards I want to invest in a beautiful piece like this chair. It’s so luxe!

I’ve also added in a few spooky touches (I share more details on my Instagram) but mostly I’ve had fun bringing in autumn colors and dark accents. What’s your favourite way to decorate for the new season?

xx Megan
