I feel like the kid’s rooms have undergone 5 different lives. They’ve changed so much in the short time we’ve lived in this house lol. This bedroom change happened before our third babe was born. We have two bedrooms on the main floor for the kids, so we knew at some point the two oldest would be moved in together and the empty room would become the nursery.
I adore decorating kid’s room and have so much fun playing around with styles and creating mood boards. It’s like a grown up version of dollhouse, or like real life Sims hah. ;rosebud anyone? My favourite thing about that game was building homes and I would literally be up until like 2am decorating my Sim’s houses…
I know, it’s a lot to take in.
Back to the kid’s rooms! When I was around 6 months pregnant, we moved the older two in together to get them used to sleeping with each other in the room and establish a bedtime routine. I took down the previous decor and wallpaper (rip moon wallpaper, we loved you).
I created a mood board for the new room and was going for neutrals but fun. Since my son was 6 and my daughter was 4, it had to be kid-friendly but something that made sense for a boy and a girl.
I found these cute decals online and kind of created the room around them!
I used a lot of what I had around the house for decor. I did buy a new dresser since they needed some sort of clothing storage in their room. We built closet storage in both kid’s rooms a few years ago – check that post out here! All of the toys were moved downstairs in our now completed basement (I have an office/playroom space) so declutter and keep it simple. I tried to minimize as much as I could in their room so it wasn’t feeling stuffed.
The kid’s were so excited about this little re-decor. That was my goal, to have them really excited to move into this ‘new’ space and have a new bedroom so it worked out!
I loved this room, it turned out so cute!

The boho shared bedroom for the kids is stunning! The earthy tones and eclectic decor create a warm and inviting atmosphere. The thoughtful arrangement of furniture and accessories gives the room a cozy and stylish vibe. Well done!
This is adorable! I’m curious if you used those exact decals you have linked? The color in your photo looks different than what they have on their site. Let me know! We’d love to copy the look!
