5 holy grail products for moms (my favourite items for getting ready in the morning)

These things are basically my holy grail.  And they will be even more so when the new baby arrives.  I started using most of these things right after M was born… those days when shower time was literally down to the second.  I remember laying M down to sleep, he was all snuggled up & content, yet the minute I stepped into the shower I could hear him start crying… sometimes he was, sometimes it was just me thinking I could hear him (so I power-showered and ran to check on him only to find him sleeping lol).  Either way my showers were like 90 seconds and a flurry of activity (and this is when they actually managed to happen *sigh*).

Basically, efficiency & multi-tasking are the top requirements for me.  One of my shower favourites is the Jergen’s shower lotion.  I have never found shower lotions to work as they claimed, until this one.  I buy the big bottle with a pump (saves even more time lol), and once the water is turned off, quickly apply it like lotion to wet skin, lightly towel off, and I’m not kidding you – your skin will be buttery soft.  This lotion is amazing and I’m so hooked on it.

I ran out of this scrub a few months ago and really need to pick up some more.  The Skinn peppermint face scrub was the perfect in-shower pick-me-up.  The bright scent was really uplifting and invigorating, and since this was really my only alone time, it almost made it feel spa-like (grasping at straws but I was so sleep deprived that it didn’t take much for me lol).  All I needed was 20 seconds to scrub this on my face and I felt like a new woman 🙂  Ugh and this scrub seriously smells sooo good.  I can’t stress that enough.

Also shower related, is the Schick Intuition razor.  This razor is bomb.  I thought it seemed so gimmicky before I had actually tried it, but it was gifted to me in my hospital swag bag after I had M, and once I used it I loved it so much.  It’s such a little thing, but not having to soap/shave cream your legs before shaving really cuts down on time.  Also, I buy my refills at Costco whenever they go on sale, and that’s the best price I’ve ever found for them.

After the shower is turned off, but before I shower-lotion up, I will wrap my hair in a microfiber towel turban to keep it off my shoulders (and lotion free).  Once my hair is almost dry, I take it off, brush out  my hair and ideally blow dry it (it’s a new thing I’m doing, blow drying… it works wonder on my pesky cowlick lol) but honestly, blow drying feels like a luxury and I usually end up air drying it with a little Moroccan oil in it.  I’ve had mine forever, so I can’t remember where I bought it from but Bed Bath & Beyond carries them, I’m sure drugstores would have them as well (or Amazon).

The one thing that really gives my face life is a little blush topped with my Becca highlight.  It keeps the ‘I haven’t slept properly in over two years ‘grey-face’ thing at bay.  That and lip balm.  Becca’s highlight is so pretty and soft; it adds a little glow and so far, it’s my favourite highlight that I’ve ever used.
