We Moved!

We moved! New year, new house apparently. Early last spring we started looking at building a new home, as the one we were in our family had grown out of once our littlest one was born. It was so exciting to plan everything from the ground up and I was able to customize our kitchen and add some fun touches!

Honestly, I hadn’t planned on moving from our last home. Did we love the layout once we were moved in and settled? Not really lol, but we would make it work. It was a bilevel with the kids rooms like 4 ft from the kitchen and the primary bedroom on the other side of the main living area with a half flight of stairs up to it. When we viewed the home it didn’t seem like a big deal (and there not being much on the market at the time made a difference too). But we had to be *so quiet* in the mornings to not wake the kids, like no lights on or anything when making coffee haha. It was ridiculous. Then once my third was born, my oldest was moved to the basement and it was a disaster. He doesn’t sleep well as is and then being so far away from us… oof. It didn’t go well. At that point, possibly moving became a conversation.

(Also, fumbling down the stairs from our room at 2am to get to the baby was chaos haha.)

So early last year we found a lot that was great (no rear neighbours) and jumped at it. We worked on building it last year and moved early January! I adore how it turned out, it’s very warm and cozy with lots of wood accents, beams, and a stone fireplace.  I’ve shared a lot over on my Instagram (and TikTok), at least the spaces that aren’t chaos. I’m working on a post detailing where I found everything and what paint colours were used. I’ll update as soon as I have that live!

If you have any questions about anything, lmk and I’ll make sure to add it to that post! Have a great Wednesday!

  1. Just stumbled onto your blog… just what I was needing at this time! I am smitten.😊

  2. What color are your cabinets? Trying to find the perfect cream color with little-no yellow undertone.

  3. Yes! It was a custom stain that we used, I used the same stain in our old home too. I have the can in our garage (that’s still a mess lol) so I need to dig that out. I’ll absolutely share the formula once I find it though! I’ll share on my blog and on IG ◡̈

  4. Im obsessed with the floating shelves you picked for the living room, you mentioned on IG that it was a franken-stain you ended up combining, mind sharing what combo you did please? Cheers!
