Kiel and I listed our home last month, so obviously I’ve been obsessively house shopping and making home wish lists like a crazy lady (even though who knows when we will sell in this market??). The home we’re currently in has a lot of dark accents and is a style that we both don’t love. We were rushed to purchase it and while it’s beautiful and we do love it, the size and layout will no longer work for our family. We both want something lighter and brighter with more neutral, timeless designs. I have always loved a white kitchen (it’s what we had in our home in BC) and Kiel was wanting something different in this home, so we went with a dark espresso stained kitchen. Ummm last time I’m letting his input be a deciding factor LOL kidding… kind of. Hah, but he’s not a fan of the dark cabinetry anymore so that works for me.

I think my favourite thing about these kitchens is the pretty white subway tile backsplash. I love the white on white, but having that contrast with the dark grey grout and white tile is pretty gorgeous as well. Having a darker cabinet but with white accents really makes a difference! Also all of that open shelving has me obsessed!
