Minimal Scandinavian Christmas Card Holder DIY

This year I’ve really been loving the minimal, neutral Christmas decor that I have going on. Very simple, hygge inspired, cozy holiday decor with lots of warm throws, fuzzy pillows and natural greenery.

I have some pops of red as well, but I’ve kept things pretty pared down. Next to my kitchen shelves, I have a space where I usually hang some art or something, but I thought a little DIY card hanging would fit perfectly there. I remembered a DIY like this from Minted ages ago, and tried to recreate it the other day. It was so simple to make this Scandinavian inspired Christmas card holder and I absolutely love how it turned out.

To be honest, I love it as is just as a hanging too. It might have a permanent spot in our home after the holidays are done.

All I used is a bunch of dried eucalyptus that I had, a small wooden dowel from a previous DIY project, some baker’s twine and a little hot glue.

My dowel was actually cracked from a craft gone wrong lol, so I used my hand saw to trim the edges, sanded it a little bit and then painted it white.

While that was drying, I sorted out my eucalyptus stems and arranged them how they will hang.

I started out just tying the eucalyptus onto the dowel, but it wasn’t secure enough. Instead, I used a dot of glue, wrapped the baker’s twine around the eucalyptus a few times, then wrapped it around the dowel, securing with another dot of hot glue.

Then, to finish off, I used baker’s twine to make a hanger and my little Christmas craft was finished. I don’t have any Christmas cards yet lol, but grabbed this one from last year and just clipped it on with a clothes pin.
