Labour Day means that a fall diy is acceptable, right? But really, this is just a mini diy, so it b a r e l y counts 😉
I picked up this wreath last year from HomeSense and loved the bright fall colours. It was a little wimpy looking though (and if I’m being honest, it didn’t ‘match’ with the mums I had just planted by the front door, they were a few shades off from each other and it was driving me nuts #biglifeproblems).
I picked up some faux flowers from the dollar store and used my wire cutters to snip the ends off, leaving a long stem & the greens.
Then I simply wound the wire stems through the wicker back of my wreath. My wreath had a really tight wrap so it was easy to secure these without glue or anything. Those flowers aren’t going anywhere!
The dollar store flowers are perfect for this, I wouldn’t want to use expensive ones anyways, since the wreath is exposed to the elements outside (and a lot of rain this year).
I love how this turned out and it gave the perfect tie in to my mums (that are inexplicably slowly dying on me, are they not supposed to last long or something? #maybeitsmyblackthumb… sigh…)
Happy September 5th! Thanks for stopping in 🙂
