After Halloween it’s so hard to sit back and not put out any Christmas decor! Especially when we have snow falling outside and it’s all dark and cozy at like 4pm. I don’t like to go full on Christmas decorating right away but I do like to put out some holiday decorations that just make our home feel a little more festive. Simple decor like bottle brush trees, rearranging some shelves and layeirng in some cozy textures are all you really need. And twinkle lights! Always twinkle lights!
Let’s Get Cozy, Cozy, Cozy!
My daughter helped me fill our mantle with some cute bottle brush trees. I have a bunch in all sizes and colours, then we strung up a simple beaded garland (this was a fun DIY and I’ll share that with you guys in another post!) along with a cute pom pom garland. The mantle gives off some cute boho vibes now. Simple but festive.
I love how cozy it is in the mornings with the fireplace turned on.
We like to snuggle up with the Food network on and watch Chopped or one of the Holiday Baking Championships while I enjoy my coffee.
I rearranged the living room shelves since they had Halloween decor on them. There isn’t anything holiday themed, just some simple black green and white pieces layered in. Sometimes a simple refresh makes all the difference. Our Christmas tree will eventually be in this corner anyways, and blocks off a lot of the shelves so I don’t load them up with Christmas things because you really don’t see it anyways.
All my sheepskin rugs come out to play in the colder seasons!
I have them all over (these are from Ikea and Costco). For mood lighting, I sprinkle twinkle lights all over the house. They’re on the piano where I clustered some bottle brush trees and a little candle set up. Our piano bench was a Marshalls find and it’s super cute and boho. I threw a sheepskin rug over the woven straw to make it cozier.
Lastly, in the kitchen I cleared off the counter tops and gave everything a good wipe. I keep my cutting boards stacked together on the counter and added a few bottle brush trees and put my diffuser on a little cake stand. This gold frame is a favourite and I put a cute cookie recipe in there for easy reference. Some dried grasses in a glass jar add the perfect, neutral touch.
I hope this inspires you to add a little holiday decor around your home.
I’ll be decorating slowly as the weeks go on and might put up the tree early this year too (it’s been a long year and I’m going to extend Christmas and this season as long as I can lol). Follow along on my IG for the updates! I also saved how I made this little Christmas tree pillow to a highlight so make sure to check that out if you’re into cute kitshcy Christmas decor!
