Hello Friends! Today on the blog I’m sharing my first ever holiday home tour! I’m teaming up with a few amazing accounts over on my Instagram and we’re posting a home tour walk through on our stories – make sure you pop over and check that out! When it comes to Christmas decor, I don’t usually follow a theme really, my style is pretty neutral and I love the look of a cozy, hygge Scandinavian inspired Christmas… so maybe that’s my theme? Hygge & Cozy. I went into this season thinking I wanted to have a lot of pretty blush pinks and greens, but that didn’t happen whatsoever lol, I actually don’t have a single pink piece of decor in the house currently! I used a lot of fresh greens and diy’d what I could to upcycle decor I wasn’t loving anymore. I also moved a few things around so they felt ‘new’ again and all of those smalls things added up to my favourite holiday decor ever!

Our outside porch isn’t’ finished yet – but my husband has been working a lot so we haven’t had a chance to put up our Christmas lights aside from what I did myself by the front door.
I made this pretty swag myself and I love it. I’ll share how I made it in blog post later this week – it’s so easy! I also did a quick diy flocking on these outdoor trees and popped two of them into this old wicker hamper of mine. Then some chunky outdoor lights were strung around the trees. I plan on adding a lantern and some birch wood out here too. We get a ton of snow in the winter plus temperatures drop to -40ºc AND EVEN COLDER (!!) so I keep our front porch really simple lol!
We have a very open floor plan on our main level.
I didn’t want it to feel too cluttered or crowded in here – so I kept it very neutral with a few pops of red. Most of the red pieces are vintage (basically haha) and from my childhood, things my mom used to decorate with when I was little. I love having those touches in our home, I’m so nostalgic like that. In fact, I was hoping to add some of my childhood ornaments to our tree but I couldn’t find the Christmas bin with all of my older Christmas decor! I have no idea where we put it last year so unfortunately, I wasn’t able to use any of that stuff.
I did buy a new tree this year though,
I was thinking about attempting a diy flocking on our old tree, however, it was leaning crooked and so sparse in between the branches, I didn’t want to deal with it and figured instead it would be a fun downstairs tree for next year lol. The black Friday sales came just in time and I was able to find a great, fluffy tree on sale! I’m so happy I bought it! What I love most though (aside from that gorgeous fluffy flocking) is that there are coloured lights (rainbow lights as my kiddos call them) AND clear lights! As a kid, rainbow lights were my favourite, and my kids have stated that they are their favourite too! As a grown up, the pretty clear lights are obviously my favourite, so I love that we can switch back and forth, or have them flicker on and off together. It’s just a little more fun.
I also did a very simple diy to our garland on our mantle. The base was a cute garland I bought from Michaels a few years ago. Most of the flocking has fallen off though and it was a little wimpy looking. So I wove in some fresh cedar boughs and secured them with the wire on the garland.
I shared my piano makeover the other day on IG (and have a post coming for that asap!). I moved one of my favourite prints over to it and then added a few pretty bottle brush trees. I’ve been slowly collecting them over the past two years. I love the touch of whimsy they add!
Our home has a very open floor plan (it’s literally one large room lol), so I like to have it all flow together decor wise – and this is one of my favourite views (especially since I painted our piano – I love how it looks now!).
Our kitchen decor is very simple. I love the pattern on our backsplash and just wanted to highlight that a little bit with a pretty faux boxwood wreath. I’ve had it forever and don’t actually remember where I bought it from. I have some of my favourite kitschy Christmas mugs on display and then I added a few pine clippings into a little bud vase. I love diffusing Christmas-y scents too – and keep our diffuser on our countertops.
I’ve recently moved our piano bench over to our dining table and I love how it looks. It’s so cozy and comfortable, so I’m on the hunt for either a new dining table bench or a new piano bench lol. I draped a faux sheepskin (from Ikea) over the bench along with a fuzzy plaid blanket. To modernize one of my favourite little table runners (we used to decorate with this when I was younger, one of the basically vintage pieces I mentioned), I layered it over a macrame table runner and topped with a few thrifted candle holders and my diy flocked mini tree (I shared the how-to over on my IG and saved it all to a highlights tab if you were interested!).
This was the first year I extended my Christmas decorating over to my kid’s rooms – I love it so much it instantly became a holiday tradition!
I kept it simple in the kid’s room with some greenery and mini trees…
When my daughter saw her little tree for the first time she literally gasped lol! They were both so happy and that alone is worth it times a million. I decorated their trees very minimally with a felt ball garland. The lights make it magical enough (I love the cozy, hygge vibe they add. Don’t you want to curl up and just watch the twinkling tree lights!). I also strung a few garlands on their walls as well and added a diy pom pom wreath in my daughter’s room (I can barely call this a diy, it was a small wreath from the craft store and I hot glued pom-poms to it lol).
Our master bedroom received a little holiday cheer as well! I kept it really simple in here, and like I mentioned before, a lot of my holiday decorating is just switching up decor I already own. That large black print was on the wall by my chair, but I moved it to the dresser and added a macrame hanging I already had in it’s place. This freshened up the room and to finish it off I added a homemade orange slice garland, a bottle brush tree and a forest print.
