I picked up several plain pillow covers from H&M a while back with intentions of DIY’ing them into something fun. The pillow covers were like $4 each btw, so if you’re wanting some plain pillow covers H&M is the place to go (and they are surprisingly well made!). This DIY is very simple, I used several pieces of different ribbon and garland from the craft store, as well as my hot glue gun. I ended up making this pretty darling Anthropologie inspired pillow that I love in under 30 minutes (yay for nap time crafts!).
The first thing I did was lay my pillow cover flat and decide where I wanted the ribbon to go. I also used some yarn and made chunky yarn braids to add to the pillow.
^^ sorry for the awful lighting, it was a rainy, grey day when I did this
Then, using hot glue, I slowly worked my way down the pillow cover glueing on the ribbon. I glued over the edges about 1 cm on each side, trimming any excess ribbon. Once it was all done, I stuffed my pillow back up and it was done! Easiest DIY ever! What do you think? I’m really happy with how it turned out and think it’s really cute!
(Although I do wish that I had found some white pom pom garland instead of the taupe colour.)
The customizations with this are endless. I think all one colour would be fun for a kid’s room, or going really colourful and having a bright, fun pillow with coloured pom poms and fringe. If I could get my hand’s on some really chunky fringe, I think that would look gorgeous as well.
