I’ve been making my own cleaners for years now – you guys it is so easy & inexpensive to make your own!
To make this easy DIY all purpose spray, you need only a few things:
- essential oils of your choosing
- vodka
- purified water
- spray bottle
Vodka is an excellent disinfectant, it kills germs in a pinch & because I have quartz countertops, I can’t just use any cleaner on them (my old cleaning spray had vinegar in it which is a big no-no with quartz) so this vodka spray is perfect! It’s also great for granite, wood, stainless steel, laminate, etc.
I used a big spray bottle that held my last cleaner and repurposed it for this. I’ll take the label off at some point but I know it’s a really sticky one so I’m putting it off lol (check out these easy hacks for removing even the stickiest labels, they really work!). Fill your spray bottle half full of filtered water, then the other half with vodka.
Does it matter the quality of vodka?
Not at all. I had a cheap bottle of vodka I bought to test out making homemade vanilla extract with (like this brand, have you ever seen it? The bottle was plastic too. Yikes. LOL). Regardless, it works amazing and I wouldn’t worry about needing a pricey bottle of vodka for this.
So it’s a 1:1 ratio of filtered water to vodka, then add in some essential oils. I did a few drops of tea tree oil, and then about 20 drops of lemon essential oil. Grapefruit oil would be amazing too and peppermint is one of my favourites to add to DIY home cleaners.
Give your bottle a shake and you’re ready! Isn’t that the easiest?? You can feel really good about spraying this around your food or kids, no toxic fumes or off-spray to worry about!
