It might be on the later side to share some of the fall decorating I did around my home, but I loved how cozy and simple my decor was this year, so it needed a place on The Blush Home. This is the first ‘fall’ in my new home after moving in late last year, and the kids and I both agreed that it’s just perfect for us. They adore it as much as I do, which feels very special.
I haven’t shared about my separation last year on here, but it wasn’t a great situation. Moving into this home after an incredibly tumultuous divorce felt like a safe haven. It’s a home where my kid’s feel safe and they don’t have to worry about someone hurting them, and it’s been very healing. Which we all needed and continue to need. It’s exciting that every season has been a mini fresh start together, and the fall especially, because this was around the time I first viewed this home. Knowing that it’s been almost a full year since that time, and remembering what the kids and I were going through at this time last year, it feels a little surreal.
I love decorating for the seasons for the kids. They get soo excited! When they were coming back from their dad’s house and saw all the little bats on the wall and fall/Halloween touches around the home, honestly they were ecstatic. It was so cute.
I finally tidied up the front porch, painted the front door and brought in a little decor for the fall season. Check that DIY out here if you want to take a peek at the before. The deck desperately needs to be stained as well, but that’s a next year’s project. The ‘rustic’ look goes with the fall vibes anyways haha.
Bats are my favourite Halloween/Fall decor – they go anywhere!
(Pro-tip, when sticking these bats up, use a dot of sticky tac from the Dollar Store to adhere them to the wall and NOT the little stickers that come with the bats in the package. The stickers will remove the paint when you take the bats down. Ask me how I know lol. For the past several years, I’ve used the sticky tac method and haven’t had any issues with removing them since.)
I also bought a pack of these witch hats, and I did hang them in the kitchen but I couldn’t find a photo of them for some reason. You can see a peek of how those turned out here, in this video.
For a cute Falloween touch, stick some of those bats on the inside of a lampshade (I used a bit of tape to secure them).
I’m Canadian, so my Thanksgiving has come and gone and Christmas/winter decor is in full swing over here! I may have put my tree up November 1st. Honestly, it snows so early here that fall feels like it’s realistically a month long and then it’s done. I’ll share my Christmas decor and post a home tour very soon with you guys. Have a great week 🙂
xx Megan
