Edo Japan Teriyaki Sauce Recipe!

Have you ever been to Edo Japan before? It’s a food court staple lol, absolutely nothing fancy but, they have this amazing sauce they drizzle over their stir-fry. It’s so basic but so amazing! I made stir-fried chicken and veggies over coconut rice last night for dinner (easily one of my favourite meals to make) and drizzled this Edo Japan teriyaki sauce I made over top. I always get asked about these easy dinners I make when I share them over on my Instagram (I have a highlight where I share meal inspiration as well if you’re interested!) Honestly, this is an exact dupe for their teriyaki and it’s so delicious! You have to try this out, it’s incredibly easy to make a batch and you only need 3 ingredients!

I love this sauce over a simple stir fry for dinner with some rice or udon noodles. It’s also a delicious dipping sauce for spring rolls or egg rolls too!

Edo Japan Teriyaki Recipe

Cook Time5 minutes
Servings: 8 people
Author: Megan

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup Kikkoman Teriyaki Marinade & Sauce
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 2 cups water
  • 3-4 tbsp cornstarch

Instructions

  • Whisk teriyaki marinade, sugar and water together in a saucepan and bring to a boil on the stove, stirring occasionally. Dissolve cornstarch in a small amount of water and whisk into the sauce. Once the teriyaki sauce thickens, remove from heat and drizzle over stir fry dishes.

You can easily pop this into the fridge if there are any leftovers (also this recipe makes quite a bit so feel free to halve it)! The cornstarch thickens it up when it cools as well, so the sauce needs to be heated up over low heat until liquid again.

Thank you! Great flavor. I started with 1.5 cups of water, figuring I’d thin it down at the end, but it came out so nice that way (kinda the consistency of a light syrup) that I just used it as it was. <3

Liam is an idiot. It’s just fine. Maybe less water/more corn starch if you want thicker. Bon appétit.

  3. Sorry you didn’t like it! It’s a super easy one to throw together but you could definitely use it as a base and make it your own 🙂

I’ve used this recipe a few times now. I like it how it is, and I’ve also added a few things like fresh garlic and ginger and also turned out great.

Wayyy too sweet and watery. I recommend adding half as much sugar and water.
