Okay, I’ll be honest, this is a dupe for an Anthropologie garland I saw, and also one I saw at Micheals craft store (the red and white one below). It’s a little in between, but I really love it! It has a soft, cozy vibe to it and I haven’t figured out exactly where I want to put it or how I want to hang it on my garland, but it’s one of my favourites! All you need to make this DIY Anthropologie garland issssssss felt and thread. That’s it. And about an hour of your time 🙂
I bought this pack of felt from Micheals for $4 (with a coupon) and ended up needed to grab another pack, I used a total of 1.5 packs of felt. I have no idea how many sheets that would be, maybe 30? I’m not sure though. An embroidery thread or thick thread is best, and a big needle. Cut the felt into strips about 3 inches by 1 inch. It doesn’t have to be perfect though.
You will need to measure out how long you would like your garland to be, and cut a piece of thread.
Then to start making the garland, pinch the felt piece in half like you’re making a bowtie pasta, and thread the needle through it. Do this a whole bunch and then push all of the felt pieces down the thread. Keep doing this process until the thread you measured is full. I tied a little knot around the end pieces on each side to secure the garland.
And the end result!
It’s such a fun, textural piece and I love how cozy it is in my home. It’s not a perfect dupe (are they ever though haha), but it’s a really cute piece! If you decide to make one for yourself and share it on Insta, tag me @theblushhome, I would love to see it & share it!
